Female led relationships: what are they?
Typically it is used to describe relationships in which the male submits to the loving authority of his girlfriend or (most often) wife. It is almost always, and somewhat piously, as lifestyle and not play. Often it touches on the fringe or embraces notions of inherent female superiority.
Some have suggested it was coined to avoid suggestions of kink, fetish and BDSM. To distance power exchange from images of women in ProDomme drag.
But I know of one very prominent female led relationships woman who enjoys wearing leather and intense S&M. Another well known woman has been known to gloat about how she loads her “sub hubby” with housework.. Chastity regimens are often the first step and orgasm denial may be the most common submissive male fantasy on the planet.
Sounds pretty kinky to me. And it isn’t as if all or even most folks involved in BDSM wear leather and latex. It often seems as if kinky dominant women express more annoyance than enthusiasm for dressing up like a movie dominatrix.
Does female led relationships embody something truly distinct from female on top BDSM? Is it just femdom light? Is there any real reason for treating it as a distinct subculture?
