General materials for most SD/SO scenes:
- blindfold
- earplugs and/or headset (can get earplugs at any sporting store with firearms sales)
- gloves and/or mittens
- your favorite restraints
- anything with a texture or temperature
- favorite toys
- videos and/or audio tapes that turn you on (including your own recordings)
- whatever else you can find
Guidelines: 1) consent, as always 2) safety-if you are going to play with restraints or toys, follow general safety 3) planning-decide what senses you want to deprive/overload. Plan accordingly. 4) atmosphere-you set the scene to fit your kink. It can be an open play with the body with no reason besides physical pleasure, or it can be incorporated into a larger roleplaying scene. (ae, captured spy, training, etc)
Premises: SD/SO can basically be used for 4 purposes. Disorientation, deception, focus, and to increase sensation in one or more areas of the body/senses. There tends to be an inversely proportional reaction in the senses when SD/SO is applied. In other words, when one sense is deprived, the others become stronger. Also, the mind tends to create it’s own scenarios when the senses we use most (sight and sound) are fooled or not in use. This is an important thing to remember. If you are turned on by certain ideas that you don’t actually want to try (body modification, drugs, public display/use, etc) then these techniques can send you through the roof. If these ideas squick you or your partner, then you want to take care to avoid easily misinterpreted actions/situations.
********************* Basic Scenes: Blindfold based *************************
Blindfolds are the single most used form of SD. The reason for this is that humans have become so sight dependent. When deprived of sight, we can become easily frightened or disoriented. Also, our latent senses become much more acute in order to make up for the loss.
scene 1) place blindfold on yourself or lover. Make love. Enjoy. (OK, it sounds tame, but it’s still a helluva lot of fun. Love really can be blind. And with no restraints, it is the easiest to get a vanilla partner to try. When both partners wear a blindfold, love is not only blind, but groping. Hearing and the feelings on the skin become more intense) Advanced lovemaking: put a pair of thin gloves on your lover, then cover these with a pair of mittens. When we can’t see, AND can’t feel what we’re doing with our hands, we get very disoriented. Additionally, tying those unfeeling hands together, and adding earplugs drives our other senses nuts. You are completely dependent on the senses of smell and taste, the skin on the rest of our body (which is rarely used to get a feel of actually completing an action) and on memory.
scene 2) use the blindfold during a spanking, caning or whipping scene. It becomes easier to focus on the sensations on the skin. If done non-rhythmically and on alternating parts of the body, it can increase tensions. You never know when or where that lash will strike, even when your lover is standing right in front of you. And will it be a lash or a lick? You’ll just have to wait and
scene 3)disorientation (and possibly toys) Remove all objects with sharp edges (furniture) and tuck away all electrical cords. Take your lover to another room. Blindfold them. Get them excited. Spin them in a circle a few times, and walk into another room. They should then get on there hands and knees and come find you to collect their reward for entertaining you. You can be nice and ring a bell to let them get a general sense of where you are. You can have more fun by tying that bell in front of a fan or from a metroname or using wind chimes, then going back and watching your lover stumble around trying to find you. You can be cruel and use more than one bell, or using multiple recodings of a bell in different rooms, ringing occasionally at different times, thereby confusing your poor sub and frustrating the hell out of them. You can be even more cruel by using clips with long banners of ribbon or yarn attached to their sensitive areas. They can tangle, get caught under knees and feet, end up being an amazing toy for a housecat
scene 4) place objects about the room to be found. blindfold sub and have them find objects. Smack them with favorite toy while they collect the objects. Maybe use a different toy for each different color ball or object they find. Or maybe have them find the toys that will be used on them.
Note: any of the above can be used with earplugs or headphones, or mitts, or anything else you lie.
scene 5) the mindfuck Blindfold your sub, restraining them if you wish. Play with them for awhile. Then, the doorbell rings. You leave the room. Sub hears a muffled conversation. Someone enters the room and starts making love to your sub. Sub thinks it’s you, but something isn’t right. You’re acting strange, or your mustache is missing. Or your groin is suddenly shaved. Then your sub hears your voice in another room, or maybe in the same room. Oh my GOD! This isn’t my Master/Mistress! How frightening/exciting!! How do you pull this off without actually having someone else make love to your sub? Modern technology and/or good friends. Have a friend come over at a specified time, and then have a nice conversation with them. After they leave, use a prerecorded scenario in your stereo in order to make your sub think you are somewhere else. Or, just use the recording the whole time. In the time that the recorder has you “talking with another person” go shave. When you return, don’t speak, and act differently than you normally do. Be more aggressive, or softer in touch, or fascinated with different parts of the body. It can really throw your sub off. For females who’s partners (male or female) aren’t too squicked by the idea of making love to a man, go out and buy a dildo with harness. Don’t let your lover know that you have it. Suddenly making love to a man and not the expected female lover is an obvious change. Just don’t let your more female parts have too much contact with your lover in ways that make them realize it’s a woman with a harness.
**Tip for above scene. Make sure that you test the recording before using it. Make the recording, start it playing, then go into the room where your sub is to make sure that it is the right tone and volume. And use extra long tapes or other precautions. The sudden snapping of a tape deck shutting off can ruin the realism of the scene.
scene 6) Another mindfuck. Public scene This is much the same as the above scene, except that it takes a little more time and preparation. It requires an elaborate tape. You might want to prepare by using a video recorder (with lens cap on) to record a play party. Video tapes usually have better sound quality than audio tapes, and they can roll for 6 hours. Just set the recorder down in a safe place with the lens cap on and the REC button pushed. Set it in a place that catches plenty of sounds, but isn’t too close to any voices, so there is a constant volume of voices. If you have a surround sound system in your home to play it on, then you are set. Start it playing early before you re-enter your own home. Actual scene: Dress your sub up sexy, get some toys ready, and let them believe that you are going to be doing some basic play. Then blindfold sub, put an overcoat on them, lead them to your car, and drive around for 10 minutes. Drive back home, lead sub into your own house. The tape should already be playing so sub hears a “party in progress”. Start scening. Or give your sub to someone like scene 5. Or, if you think you can actually pull it off, hold an auction. If your sub is being held up for display while you take bids (and they actually hear the bidding) It’s a total mind trip. Hard to pull off, but well worth the effort. You can either pull the blindfold off at the end, or lead sub back to car and “drive them home”. If you do that, make sure that they never find the tape until you want them to.
